It's peak irony that she would excempt herself from the nazi problem.
But in the end this is still good news - every tiny bit of coherence lost in the MAGA movement. Infighting. Yay!

In a few years time, depending on what happens in the next year, you might think that the entire MAGA movement was a hallucination, as it will be next to impossible to find a single person who ever defended it, you won't see anyone who admits to ever having a bumper sticker or flag on their lawn, they will have all up and disappeared like a fart in the wind.

They've straight up murdered people en mass. They've "doubled Gitmo" with their concentration camps in Honduras and El Salvador and God only knows where. That's not something you can just undo or walk away from.
If MAGA feels like a hallucination in another few years, it is only because of a massive cover-up by the Still Extremely Fascist media. It will be a prelude to another fascist surge and another wave of totalitarian violence.

I don't disagree with any of what you said, I am saying that they will absolutely try to walk away from it, from the ignorant base to the cowardly, evil grifters, pundits and politicians. And largely, it will work. Because American attention spans are shot from being overworked, overstimulated and under-nurished. This country elected Trump twice after some of the highest voter turnouts in history despite his first term being some of the lowest approval ratings of all presidents. That's not a sign of a healthy population.
There is a systemic problem in American society, and while a lot of it is manufactured and deliberately imposed on us, we can all do a lot more to combat it. It requires a lot more involvement and a lot more effort to remind people of atrocities and problems of the past that we're risking repeating over and over.
And I don't mean online either. We have to get a lot more active in the physical world. Talk to people, volunteer, do phone-banking for actual leaders in your community who represent you. We're all stuck on social media sites like this one, screaming into the void and thinking something will change or someone is coming.
Nobody is coming.
We thought the same thing with Bush and the reublicans in his day, and then the Tea party happened. We thought it again with the Tea Party. Then Trump happened. I think the tiki torch guys from Charlottesville are more likely to take over the party than to slink back into the shadows.
Republican politicians aren't leading their base into the crazy, they are holding the crazy back from the rest of us.
Uhhh. No. They think the crazies are useful idiots so they platform them and use them to get more power. Then they only disavow if it becomes politically expedient to do so.
So, not "holding back" so much as "actively garnering support for until it isn't valuable to do so any more"

She really doesn’t get it. Even trump is smart enough to know even he doesn’t have the latitude to “openly Sieg Heil.” The mask has slipped so far from right wing faces that his dumbest supporters think it’s now fine to openly fly their Nazi colors, but the heritage foundation and the like (kochs, Murdoch, et al) are trying to slam on the brakes and pull them back from the brink. But this is a runaway train and she may be right that we’ll have an open Nazi party in ten years time. But she doesn’t seem to grasp the nuance of what’s happening.
