My bets are on scrubbing of republican names.

I also think the rumours of Trump blowing Bill are what made Trump want to release them all of a sudden, and so we will see something that shows he didn't do it or it wasn't Bill, etc (whether faked or not).

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 21 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He says release them, but he has the ability to do that himself. He’s just stalling.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

He also must approve it, so in the end he can just not do it (like stalling x 100).

What a shit system the USA has.

Edit: USA still has a shit system but he can be forced to go with it, thanks @shalafi

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

That’s true. And if you look at most other countries, their systems are shit too. The problem is the ruling class of the world.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Well, we'll always need some sort of "ruling class" but they should not have more power than needed so a system with compromises seems to be the best one IMO, like German/Scandinavian ones.

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

We don’t need a ruling “class.” This means money. We need elected leaders with short terms and fair elections. I giggled typing that, because it’s never gonna happen

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Touché.

Yep, I mean what should we do with politicians if they expire after say 8 years? They're good for nothing.

Trump doesn't have to approve jack shit. The vote to release the Kraken was 427-1 in the House and the Senate is promising a unanimous vote. You cannot get more veto proof than that.

If Trump had the means to edit this shit, how the hell did he fail with last week's release? Nah, for Trump the night is dark and full of terrors.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I hope you're right, but we've been down this road before where we thought he was toast.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Nah, nothing like this. The entire GOP has turned on him. This shit is so bad Trump even had to preempt them. "Go for it! Release the files!"

We haven't seen this!

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

True, but NYC went to a socialist democrat. The GOP are worried right now. Again, I want you to be right.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

He has to sign it / veto it except if there is a "supermajority" in both the chambers IIRC.

The Kraken? Ha ha I checked it out and ofc it was a qanon conspiracy bullshit lol. But you are right, Trump can't do anything if there is a supermajority

Now, if he wanted to release the pero-files he could just order it, why has he been trying to not get them released? He has his reasons, and he can try to stall again ofc / convince people to not vote in the senate etc etc.

But you're right, he can be forced.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 1 points 4 days ago

Didn't they have the FBI working round the clock to find references to Trump in the files? No doubt they were also burning or at least heavily redacting those files

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago

I'm thinking he'll get out the sharpie he used to change the path of the hurricane and make some equally clever edits.

[–] redsand@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Arnold Palmer has gone by Bubba at times.

"This is a guy that was all man. This man was strong and tough, and I refuse to say it, but when he took showers with the other pros, they came out of there, they said, 'Oh my God, that's unbelievable.'" - Donald Trump, October 20 2024.

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 6 points 5 days ago

Translation... Trump saw his dick and fell in love.

[–] DarkGamer@fedia.io 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Redaction of Republicans but not Democrats and/or they don't release it because of an active investigation that they started for that purpose.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

The administration couldn't redact the 20,000 emails released last week.

[–] ashughes@feddit.uk 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

My bet is on not scrubbed, Trump pardons everyone who is not a Democrat.

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 2 points 5 days ago

I suspect that they finalized the arrangement with Maxwell.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Now it's about due process, unlike the other 1001 orders I've already given.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

Trump does so many evil things, mostly at the suggestion of smarter (evil) people, that I think many forget how incredibly stupid he is.
