Jumping spiders are badass lil cuties 😍

I absolutely love jumpers too!

Random story, sorta sad, but has a good ending...

One day a jumping spider landed on the back of my neck. I didn't see it, but of course I felt it. Out of instinct, I slapped my neck. I got the little bugger alright, but I was all too sad when I saw that it was a jumper ☹️

I put the little guy on the park bench, two legs broken off and not moving. I was so sad that I sat there for a while, occasionally blowing on it to see if there were any signs of life. After probably like 40 minutes or so, it actually got up and ran away 👍

I hope it went on to eat more flies, lay eggs and have lots of babies...

🕷️❤️

I refuse to kill them as well. There's at least one, if not two, tiny jumpers hanging around our sink. I'm guessing they're preying on what we call "drain gnats". Haven't seen any and there's nothing else I know of they could be eating.

My Filipino wife does not give a single shit about spiders, was asking why we don't have house lizards!

Here's one nailing some flying insect. LOL, that girl was 4mm, max. Dragged it off behind a wall hanging in the bathroom.

“So you’re a real spider?”
….totally.
“Well what do we like?”
Uh…catching stuff to eat. Looking fuzzy.
“Okay, you’re in.”

I love this for them.

How sure are we this isn't a Spider-Mimicking Caterpillar?

[–] drolex@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 days ago

Because the caterpillar it mimicks is already mimicking a moth, that is mimicking a lichen. It's right there in the name!

So about 6% sure.

Send a gift

Does this really reduce the amount of predators though?

Would be cool if it attackted birds and instead of getting eaten, the spider uses them for air travel.
