But what about all the times I've been told that these sort of policies are actually really unpopular because they don't win elections?

No, no, no! Of course these are popular policies, but we have to resist them because ~~of Calvinism~~ ~~they’re greedy~~ how will we learn to take care of ourselves without surviving off of a small fraction of the value we add to the economy?
