In response to Mayer's comments, the FIA said: "The FIA presidential election is a structured and democratic process, to ensure fairness and integrity at every stage."

I'm not surprised but still. That's not even a response, it completely ignores Mayer's statement.

The rule is ridiculous so I hope this challenge wins, but I expect nothing and am still assuming I'll be disappointed.

That is one terribly stupid election system if I've ever seen one. Unless of course you're already in control and want to ensure it stays this way, then it's genius.
