[–] trager_bombs@lemmy.world 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Probably, but quoting Lonely Island felt like low hanging fruit 😔

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

It’s not big enough to hang, especially not low.

Slowly but surely one of 2 things will happen The total collapse of the American society, or a full revolution event, it will take it's time like all the previous fallen empires, but it's inevitable none the less, and as all the predecessors, it always happens from the inside...sad it was short lived though, compared to the other fallen empires through out history

Capitalism is by it's very nature unsustainable. It will fall. Inevitably.
But how many will suffer before we replace it?

How long will it take to rebuild an entire society?

Because it really looks like big money is doing everything it can to prevent a conversion from capitalism.

It refuses to allow a slower, more digestible, transition.

So we will have to do it the hard way.

Capitalism is a cancer. If left untreated it will kill the host. It's not a matter of if it will kill the host but when. Regulation is chemotherapy to keep it under control, but it can't fully eliminate the cancer. The only way to do that is to cut it off for good.

Not to sound all doom and gloom, but change always comes with a high price attached, and all these oligarchs come and go and will be forgotten like many before them did, nations are here to stay though, they are definitely going to do their best to stop the change, and they will fail, miserably, and when the people are ready, nothing they can do will be able to stop what's coming, all we can hope for is emerging as better people on the other side of it.

The only thing is, that climate chage will seriously fuck us all anyway and on the current course will lead to billions, not millions, of people becoming displaced from regions that have become inhospitable to human life.

I worry about what happened to Russia. And I can see things going the same here. The people wanted true communism. They really wanted it.

They took out the monarch. And then slipped into nationalism dictatorship. Not communism.

They managed to somewhat get out of that but they are still in an authoritarian regime that pretends to be a democracy.

I think in order to prevent corruption, a lot of restrictions need to be made on law makers and the government.

And there is a problem here. They will just change the rules later to take that power. This has happened in the u.s. Especially after 9-11.

So you have to make it so that neither law makers, nor the people, (who can be manipulated with propaganda and fear mongering) also can't ever change these restrictions.

That there are no exceptions.

Almost like we need a completely new constitution. A stronger checks and balance system.

I think we also need a government that reflects the demographics of the people.
Half should be women.
Only 40% should be white.

I don't know of a reasonable way to make this happen without causing problems but shouldn't the people be represented by someone like them?

If half the supreme Court was women, I doubt female reproductive rights would even be up for debate.

Also the president shouldn't be able to appoint his cabinet nor judges. I'm not sure who should nominate them but presidents pick sycophants too often.

Each cabinet position should have required credentials. Like a medical license. Higher Education degree. Years of experience. Etc. All should require a PhD or equivalent.

I also think if a president dies then a new vote is called. Within 6 months.

Capitalism and Christian fundamentalism is paying for our speed run.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

Everything happens way faster now. It used to be unheard of for a human to experience the kind of change we've seen in the past 100 years in a single lifetime, for better or for worse.

Are we not going to talk about the guy on the left. What is happening?

I figured it out. It was pep-pee man shooting a priest in the face in Oakland near the Alameda Coast Guard base.

This 2nd round of Nazi scum are such pathetic incels.

At least the Nazis had style, you can't argue with that.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nazis had Hugo Boss, and that was only after they'd been in power for a while if the department of war all wore Tom Ford or Kate Spade they'd look like that too.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Fascist are known for being kinda good dressers. It’s a whole thing. Not just Nazis.

It’s a shame our fascist are also poorly dressed.
