He’s been saying this the whole time.

He wants to die president so he doesn’t go to jail, then hopefully become an eternal leader-god like North Korea. That’s his ultimate desire.

He essentially thinks he’ll be secularly canonized as St. Trump like FDR was recognized when he died.

It’s pathetic.

Tell MAGA this is a great idea.

If it passes Obama can run for a third term.

Ohhhh man, I would love for Obama to smoke Trump in an election. Hell, the debate might give him a stroke.

They'll try to word the change in a way that it only applies to his tangerineness the Great Leader and nobody else.

the already floated idea was that the wording to be changed so it only applies to two consecutive terms. Which would exclude Obama.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He hasn’t had two consecutive terms though.

As in, the whole "no President shall serve more than two terms" thing.

Trump didn't have two consecutive terms so he gets a third.

Isn't Obama getting kind of old?

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 1 points 2 days ago

A quick check would have told you Obama was born in 1961. He'd be 67 if he was inaugurated in 2028, younger than many Presidents.

Learn from my mistake. Add the /s if you're trying to be funny

There’s no realistic path forward for them to get an amendment passed to allow this. If they want a third term for his unholiness, they’ll need to violate the constitution even more blatantly than they already have been.

Seems most likely he'll just do it and have the Supreme Court rule that it's legal.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

I won’t put anything below the current court but at the same time the 22 amendment isn’t ambiguous in the slightest.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

I really hope not

Don't say things like that casually
