The president had said living here, in the nation’s 26th-most-populous city, was like “living in hell.” Portlanders mostly met the news with confusion.

No. Being that there’s no war there, that was an easy question.

[–] bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 19 hours ago

Border patrol surveillance helicopters were flying over Portland yesterday. I wonder if he was watching the feeds.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 37 points 19 hours ago

Even taking the question seriously is sane-washing the President's delusions.

I’m in Portland, can confirm, it’s not safe to go outside because of all the sniper fire and improvised explosives and people changing lanes in the highway 26 tunnel and how the rent is too damn high and the good food trucks are far away.

Flying out of PDX tomorrow. I fitted the homeless crusher to my car to make through the i5 to i84 to i205 route. No idea how I'll fight off the mobs of antifa while waiting for the shuttle in blue lot.

Seeing as how he declared war on Americans, and there's Americans all throughout Oregon, yes. And also, seeing how he's bombing random fishing boats, Oregon also borders an ocean, so it's like 115% invading Americans and fisherman.

No, not confusion. All of us here in Portland know that Trump's statement is 100% bullshit, whether from Trump being fed bullshit by FOX News et al, or by Trump making up the lie itself.

There is literally nowhere else on earth I'd want to live more than Portland, OR. Any of his 'fires everywhere" would just be people having backyard barbecues or cookong in food pods.

My understanding is that it comes from watching B roll of other protests on Fox

"I spoke to the governor, she was very nice," Trump said. "But I said, 'Well wait a minute, am I watching things on television that are different from what's happening? My people tell me different.' They are literally attacking and there are fires all over the place...it looks like terrible."

Capitalism.

You're so close, Donald. "But wait, is Fox News lying to and manipulating me?"

Another school day tomorrow. Did you know that in the city of Portland, there aren't school buses for high schoolers because they just take the city bus for free. Just a snippet.

Trump hates free places with free thought. He hates freedom. I think Republicans get angry when people aren't fighting like dogs to prove their masculinity and subduing their women

[–] Atropos@lemmy.world 9 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Portland resident here, AMA I guess....

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 4 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Tell me, are the crickets still singing in Portland?

[–] Atropos@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

Yeah, they're still going. It was warmer today, so there's quite the chorus right now.

[–] mbp@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Wanna hang out at Keys Lounge Tuesday for the Jazz night?

[–] Atropos@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago

Normally, love hanging out - but Tuesday is D&D night!

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 8 points 19 hours ago

Oh yeah. He likes to shit on chicago but its an awesome place. His definition of hellhole is anything with decent public transit.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 6 points 19 hours ago

Trump: it's not war ravaged? It's okay, we can fix that

Do you how how to tell if trump is lieing? His lips are moving.

I wonder when he's going to deploy them to IB, not San Diego, IB. Since it's one of a couple of cities that border Tijuana, and we only have 25,000 residents, I can only assume it will be soon.
