Tldr more sun means more skin cancer but a longer lifespan.

Specifically, rare but intense exposure dramatically increases your risk of melanoma, but consistent, low level exposure is good for you. Don’t be a crispy pink idiot

Like most things, have it in moderation. It's clear that too much sun causes wider health problems including early ageing of the skin. It's easy to verify by looking at the skin health of an Asian grandma with her age equivalent from Spain, Greece or Italy. At the same time, avoiding sun at all cost would also seem biologically counter-intuitive when as a species we evolved with constant exposure to the Sun.
