Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

The 6-3 decision of the conservative-majority court allows agents to stops suspects based solely on their race, language or job, while a legal challenge to the recent immigration sweeps in LA works its way through the courts.

WOW. US has gone complete NAZI. WOW. This reverses 200 years of progress in human civilization.
The headline does NOT do justice to the implications. It puts into law that some people have LESS RIGHTS than others if they are NOT WHITE.

Umm... I'm not sure how long you've studied US History but non white have always had less rights. Just not always written explicitly so.

[–] themadcodger@kbin.earth 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yup. Originally, Irish and Italian immigrants weren't white. Syrians and Arabs have always been white though, because as they argued in court, if they weren't white, neither was Jesus. So that case ended quickly.

Is the Syrian/Arab thing true? Where can I learn more?

RIP US Democracy (aged 1965 or so to 1980 something). We hardly knew ye.

For you today was the day that it put into law that some people have less rights than others if they are not white.

For America it was Monday.

First off I absolutely disagree with the decision 100%, but that's not exactly what it said. What it said was that race could be taken into account among other things like location, employment type, etc. The result is the same of course, people being disappeared off the street for being brown. I just don't like dishonest reporting.

This is also only an interim decision that only officially applies to operations in Los Angeles for the duration of that litigation and further appeals (e.g. 1-2 years). There was no opinion or explanation on how this ruling comports with existing 4A and 5A case law.

Stop and Frisk is legal in the U.S. Same policy, just different targetsa.

If you think immigrants will be the only ones harrassed, you are sadly wrong. Next year while trying to vote, expect them to do this to people.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 9 hours ago

Unfortunate wording. Immigrants are people.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 16 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

So they can discriminate based on protected traits as long as they do so using most of the traits. And they wonder why people's trust in their institution is eroding.

Ginny Thomas being a traitor, multiple judges being involved in sexual assaults and alcoholism, most of them hanging out with Federalists, legislating from the bench, going on record and LYING TO THE UNITED STATES CITIZENS ABOUT Roe...

What trust?
