An Ocasio-Cortez / Walz ticket would be a dream come true. I believe Newsom is too much of a neoliberal and opportunist to actually begin to revert the US into a progressive state, and would ultimately cause someone like DeSantis to be elected afterwards.

I am well aware. But my dream is AOC / Walz for 2 terms, then Walz and his VP pick
"Okay, we've had a 40 year old president now. Time to switch back to someone pushing 70."
Also Walz will be in his 70s in 2036, AOC will be pushing 50. I'd much rather Walz 2028-2036 and then run AOC 2036-2044.

I really hope that people actually vote in the primaries, if they actually happen, and we don't end up with another fucking corporate fellating Dem on the ticket for the general election. Then again, I don't want to hear about the goddamn next presidential election when the mid-terms are next in line.
I think we should look to outside talent. The lettuce that outlasted Liz Truss is available and probably more personable despite several years of decomposition.
Newsom can top all the Democrats he wants, i am still not going to support him.

Democrats is somehow always able to find worse candidates than the last one...
I like what he's doing right now. Mocking drumpf using his own stupid style of tweets is absolutely perfect and really seems to get under the pedo/rapist's skin.
But I am not sure about him running for the presidency. I mean yes he's better that the orange cancer... But can't we do better? We need better!
It’s an obvious ploy to gain cultural following leading up to his run. He hired a PR team and this is the result.
Just to refresh memories, back in 2020 Democratic primary voters decided that picking a candidate exclusively on their perceived ability to fight Trump was more important than one who would be the best President. That didn't end up working so well in the long run.
If the Democrats don't elect a transformative President that will twist arms in Congress and put the people ahead of the oligarchs, then get used to the idea of President Vance in 2032.
I mean... that's a pretty low bar, though, right? Kamala just set the world record for fastest time from hype to revulsion any politician has ever achieved and pulled her entire party along into the grave she dug herself.

At the current rate things are going it's unlikely we'll have 2026 mid-terms.

That... does exactly nothing to solve the problems that led to the rise of MAGA. I mean hell, this is what allowed Trump to come to power in the first place. I get the appeal of "anything has to be better than this," but kicking the can down the road will hurt more than it will help. Think of it this way: What will happen under Newsom that would result in fascism not coming back stronger than ever and why hasn't that happened already?
