"This list naturally de-legitimised concerns of already distressed staff," said Dr Hossai Gul, a UTS researcher and representative for the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU).
That statement is exactly right and points to a surprising lack of empathy in the handling of this process.
"It is simply not something that should be shared at a university training future psychologists — our academics in that department and in health were horrified."
Hiring an outside firm to "help" with ostensibly positive advice for the bloodbath is horrible. I'm grateful the staff of the psychology department spoke up about this.
- Do that task you've been dreading, like washing delicates, organising receipts for your taxes, or cleaning a bathroom.
As an aside, I'm sure some people don't wash thoroughly, but I imagine most do. I'm speculating here, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. But I imagine most people feel great about taking a shower and washing thoroughly for that fresh feeling. What prompted this outside firm to advise as such suggests they believe most people actually dread to wash thoroughly when showering. Could this be a case of projection, perhaps, on the part of the author who offered that advice?
