They never cared. He's been spouting gibberish since before his first term.

Edit to add that the reason Biden went under the microscope for his mental fitness was because he was a competent, intelligent person at one time.

People can't believe that Donnie doesn't get the same treatment and they don't seem to realize that it's because he's always been a blubbering moron.

Trump's actions seem reminiscent of Biden's past gaffes. Will the media apply similar scrutiny?

No, it's actually not even remotely similar.

I’m not sure how it happened. I imagine the liberals figured out a way to make a concerning lack of mental acuity contagious.

What the fuck is this bullshit?

The regime is using a law to deploy the national guard and take control over DC police. That law allows for 48 hours of use, it has been stated it will be in place for 30 days.

The issue isn't that Trump is making mistakes when talking publicly, the issue is that the Regime is breaking laws constantly and facing no consequences.

Not to speak of the foreign gifts clause in the constitution. It’s rather unambiguous. And, you know, so many other things it’s impossible to even track anymore.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

The Supremes nullified the Emoluments Clause by making it impossible for anyone to have standing to enforce it.

President Trump mistakenly stated he was meeting with Vladimir Putin in Russia, when the meeting is scheduled for Alaska.

Heheh, he's not mistaken but we'll find that out later.

Trunk could offer Pukin part (or all) of Texas for example in exchange for the territory absconded from Ukraine as a prime example of his mastery of the art of the deal

[–] Azal@pawb.social 14 points 1 day ago

You know what? I'm okay with this idea! Texas loves to spout how it never actually signed back on the US after the Civil War, I'm okay with giving them up.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Putin has expressed an interest in Alaska.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

It's literally on the opposite side of the map. That makes no sense.

/s for those who need it

[–] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I mean, it's practically Russia. Sarah Palin can even see it from her house so it's basically the same place.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago

2066 if Fallout is to be believed, although they think it's the Chinese.

Hope you've all been saving your bottlecaps.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What, admit they already shit the bed letting him near the office in the first place? Nearly wiping out humanity with his idiot COVID plans? Staging a no-shit-for-reals Stupid-as-Fuck coup attempt, and then stealing national secrets to sell, and doing it AGAIN while they looked on like the dead-eyed zombie stenographer slaves of republiQan corporate news sewer overlords that they are? That?

Nah, they’re not gonna do that. Just keep pumping out the ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ articles, they’ll get enough clicks to sell trucks and drugs.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You’re wrong! He’s not shitting the bed!

He’s simply filling his trousers at random intervals.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

s/random/frequent

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 30 points 1 day ago (3 children)

What do you mean, "anymore"? He's a moron. He's never made any sense.

[–] chaogomu@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This the the media trying a "doesn't she look tired?"

They're doing this because they want the Epstein list to be forgotten, and Trump being on the list, keeps it in people's mind.

They think with Trump gone, the push to release the list will die.

But we want the full list, not just Trump.

[–] Azal@pawb.social 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I really want the full list. Democrat, Republican, Atheist, Christian, I don't care who's on it, needs to be out.

Unfortunately, like the Panama Papers, I fear it'll be out, everyone will be angry, nothing will be done and we'll be back to square one... Trump's refusing to release it is frankly the best thing to keep peoples anger going. I don't like it, but I'll take what even pisses off Republicans to break out of the cult.

[–] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

100% this. The full just. No redactions. Nobody is spared. Accountability matters.

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

My thoughts exactly. It has to have been a decade since I've heard him string together more than two even vaguely coherent sentences in a row.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Look at interviews in the 80s and then look at him speaking now. He was always a lying asshole, but back then, he could at least complete a simple sentence. Now it's all confabulation.

Asked a specific question about whether other cities like Chicago and Los Angeles might expect similar action involving the use of the National Guard to combat crime, Trump said, in part, this:

“But when I look at Chicago and I look at LA, if we didn’t go to LA three months ago, LA would be burning like the part that didn’t burn. If you would’ve allowed the water to come down, which I told them about in my first term, I said, 'You’re going to have problems, let it come down'. We actually sent in our military to have the water come down into LA. They still didn’t want it to come down after the fires. But that was it, we have it coming down. But hopefully LA is watching. That mayor also, the city is burning, they lost like 25,000 homes. I went there the day after the fire, you were there, and I saw people standing in front of a burned-down home. Their homes were incinerated, they weren’t like, even the steel, literally it was all warped, literally disintegrated because of the winds and the flames like a blow torch. They were standing on this beautiful day, maybe a couple of days after, we gave it a little time because of what they had suffered. Almost 25,000 homes. And you see what’s happening now, they didn’t give their permits. I went to a town hall meeting I said we’re going to get you the federal permit, which are much harder.”

That’s the sort of thing you hear before having to make a difficult decision about grandpa’s future. That it came from a sitting president waging domestic war against a crime emergency in a city that currently does not have a crime emergency seems, at best, troubling.

I don't care to read the article right now, but as an average Canadian citizen... yeah I really don't care.

I care about what people are doing about him. I care about what people are doing about the authoritarian government. I care about what people are doing about the terrorist government. I care about what people are doing about the fascist government. I care about what people are doing to shut down the militarization of law enforcement against their own country.

what trump says means fucking nothing and I really don't give a shit. he's a demented old man having his last shit on a gold plated throne.

focus on those supporting him. shit them down. ensure they can never do this again, by any means necessary

[–] Vupware@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

Yeah.

So many ppl will say “I can’t believe somebody hasn’t done it!”, “when will somebody do it”, “my life will be so much better if somebody does it”, etc but these people don’t seem to realize that the damage has already been done. One guy leaving is not going to magically restore our liberties, eradicate the concentration camps, stop the gestapo, and end our complicity/support of genocide and imperialism.

The whole system is rotten from the ground up. We need to rebuild the whole thing.

Syphilitic rapist pedophile

Syphilis is treatable with antibiotics and Trump has always had access to good healthcare. Even then, he doesn't really show any non-neurological symptoms of tertiary siff.

Instead, my money's on some form of dementia.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 2 points 13 hours ago

He's showed clear signs of it since 2016 at least.

[–] selkiesidhe@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago

So, literally: pedo says what?

I can't believe anyone that got published in a newspaper would ignore all of the backlash that Trump has received. People care. People are protesting. People are trying to pass laws in congress and state legislatures and use the courts to stop it.

The question could be reframed as "why are persons with the power to stop it capitulating ? "

The answer is simple from here: Because of money and job security. Because the state is abusing their access to force to murder and disappear those people that dissent.
