Hey, no need to hurry with these pointless (in short term) actions. I'm sure palestians won't mind another month of genocide to be recognized which will change exactly nothing for them.

[–] iglou@programming.dev 37 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Again, all these countries will recognise it in September because that's when they can make it official at the UN. It's not delayed because fun.

And again, this small decision doesn't exonerate them from taking other ones until then.

This is a good thing and shitting on it is what is pointless.

Shit on the governments for not taking other actions, not for taking this one.

Asking palestinians to disarm without any guarentee to stop isrsel occupation is so ridiculous and dangerous. We won't fall from western propaganda like you

[–] iglou@programming.dev 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I never supported that, did I?

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The countries you believe that they really believe in a two state solution support that

[–] iglou@programming.dev 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Again, I didn't support anything else than the decision to recognise the state of Palestine, I have no idea what you're trying to argue with me about

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I have no idea what you're trying to argue with me about

I am arguying the idea that conditional recognition of palestine is possible. The conditions onñy help israel occupation and hurt palestinians rights like the right for an army to protect itself

[–] iglou@programming.dev 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I still don't know what you're talking about. Countries are going to recognise the state of Palestine in September, they're not expecting anything for it.

The PA made commitments themselves. And they're not exactly heavily militarized anyway.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Carney literally said there is conditions

[–] iglou@programming.dev 0 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

What is he going to do if his conditions aren't respected? Unrecognise Palestine?

All these conditions are just a way to alleviate the wrath of the US.

What's happening is that France took the initiative, and now countries are timidly following. Saying there are conditions is a political move, as no one can guarantee nothing.

But this article isn't even about Canada.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

France, Canada and u.k was all caught lying about stopping the arms sale to Israel why the hell would i still believe them at anything. Those countries doesn't give a damn about a Palestinian state they always keep talking about the occupying force right to self defense , never Palestinians. They never call illegal settlers terrorists and refuse to acknowledge that Israel itself are the one who are arming the settlers and defend their crimes

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I was right the same bs Canada , France and UK said

Albanese said Australia had sought and received assurances from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas that Hamas would play no role in any future Palestinian state.

Other conditions include a commitment to demilitarize and to hold general elections, abolish a “system of payments to the families of prisoners and martyrs,” and governance and education reform, as well as “international oversight to guard against the incitement of violence and hatred,” Albanese said.

https://www.cnn.com/2025/08/11/australia/australia-palestinian-state-september-intl-hnk

Israel the occupier get to keep it's army but the occupied should stay demilitarized and be administrated by the same countries who are complicit with Israel genocide.

[–] Mihies@programming.dev 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

But the government is distracting public with such actions. Let me put it like this: Imagine your house is on fire, a fireman, which provided and provides fuel to the arsonist, strolls by and tells you that by next week they will pour a glass of water on your house.

[–] iglou@programming.dev 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That's a terrible comparison. I get your point, and as I said, you can shit on them for selling weapons, you can shit on them for not doing anything to stop the genocide.

But shitting on them for making the decision to recognise the state of Palestine is like shitting on the government for increasing the budget of the fire department, because it's not helping your house burning down right now.

[–] Geobloke@aussie.zone 4 points 1 month ago

This announcement is de facto recognising a Palestinian state, they will have to wait until September to de jure recognise the state (thankyou CK2 for explaining that distinction.)

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's a pacifier for people like you, you get to relax and say look they're finally doing something, but they're doing nothing of value. Palestinians don't want a state on the ruins of Gaza or the ghettos that remain in the West Bank, we want a free Palestine from the river to the sea, for all regardless is religion.

Anything short of fully dismantling the occupation, reparations, and the right of return for all the refugees that want to return is just the current situation with extra steps.

[–] iglou@programming.dev 1 points 1 month ago

It really feels like none of you read any of my comments.

Never have I said it's enough, or that they shouldn't do more.

All I'm saying is, recognising the state of Palestine is a good thing.

Stop putting words in my mouth, and read.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Why are they all fucking saying September?

[–] sourhill@lemmy.sdf.org 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Something to do with the UN schedule.

[–] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The UN already recognizes Palestine. Countries could recognise it now if they wanted to.

[–] mlg@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

It's a mutually agreed deadline for Trump to stop screwing around with tariffs and torching international agreements.

If he doesn't reverse or change his policy by then, all these shill countries will stop following US foreign policy demands.

Notice how these are all significant military partners and customers of the US as well (UK. France, Germany, Australia, etc).

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

They prepare the plan with israrl and the collaborators to meet thr conditions that carney mentionned. Basically we get rid of hamas , we let the palestinians autority have fake control on gaza and the west bank then let israel continue occupation

[–] justlemmyin@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

What the fuck is this! A teaser trailer? Just fucking get on with it.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

The survivors of Israeli genocide are free right now.

[–] Vupware@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

Cool! Now do something to stop the endless slaughter. Oh, you won’t do that, and you have no intentions of doing that, and this is just lip service to those dumb enough to fall for it.

[–] itisileclerk@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Why not now?
