Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

What he didn’t mention is that ‘FAILURE AND DISGRACE’ is also the likely outcome if courts DON’T strike down his tariffs. He’s screwed the economy either way at this point.

Tariffs are just the government taking money from the people after all. Kind of like the UK tea tax.

[–] justOnePersistentKbinPlease@fedia.io 36 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

If the US doesnt drop the tariffs quickly, the world is actively working on new deals that remove the US entirely from the world stage.

Like how Japan is dropping US lumber and LNG for Canada's offerings.

Or how Japan and South Korea are offering their military hardware to Australia and Canada.

Or how Toyota is opening a new plant in Canada

All of the "deals" he has are just meaningless letters of agreement that placate him while the real work happens.

[–] nickwitha_k@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 16 hours ago

Not to mention the fact that he nearly always renegs on "deals".

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 17 hours ago

Well if they don't its more failure but if they do he can say its all because of this one thing and not the mounds of idiocy in his policy and administration.

[–] Redditsux@lemmy.world 36 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

You know what that means. His lawyers told him he could lose these cases. Yay!

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 35 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Or someone told him a depression is incoming regardless and he’s trying to get ahead of the blame

[–] womjunru@lemmy.cafe 12 points 17 hours ago

This is the right one.

Has Trump released all the Epstein files yet like he campaigned on and promised to do just yet? Asking for pretty much the entire planet here.

Fuck Trump, death to pedophiles.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 15 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Unless every Republican and every conservative Democrat is removed from every office in the country and held accountable for their crimes, there will be a Great Depression. Therefore, a Great Depression in the US is guaranteed.

I wish I could have the day that I voted for.

One of the worst things about this second Age of Insane Shit is all the headline photos of his grizzled, painted, rapist, greasy-ass mug.

SO fucking gross.

[–] hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 6 points 10 hours ago

Well, he did run on making America great, so… mission accomplished? Maybe he can borrow W’s banner.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

Says the Failure and Disgrace...

[–] griff@lemmings.world 6 points 14 hours ago

“Best Depression EVER!!!”

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago

Trump you ignorant cunt, you don't need help destroying the economy like your trash businesses.

[–] HuskerNation@lemmy.zip 4 points 10 hours ago

At this point I can't believe anything Trump says. How do we know he's not hoping the courts reverse them? Then he can claim the courts for them not being implemented while getting cleared of his own disaster is policy

[–] ryper@lemmy.ca 4 points 18 hours ago

The main thing getting depressed if the tariffs are struck down will be Trump. He can't handle anyone telling him he can't do something.

[–] HulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.com 3 points 10 hours ago

What a dumb fuck (among a lot of over bad things).

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

7 months to go from world leading economy to great depression.
