Many understands that oil companies had a massive disinformation campaign to discredit climate change science. Yet few understand that animal agriculture has done exactly the same. To say plant based diets are more environmentally taxing than animal based is like saying windmills and solar are the true cause of climate change.

I'm not telling anyone what to do, but the data is has been shown many times, in many ways, by many studies. To be a climate change skeptic goes hand-in-hand with being an environmental vegan skeptic.

https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.1707322114 Nutritional and greenhouse gas impacts of removing animals from US agriculture

only reduced total US GHG by 2.6 percentage units.

This assessment suggests that removing animals from US agriculture would reduce agricultural GHG emissions, but would also create a food supply incapable of supporting the US population’s nutritional requirements.

Interestingly on this model, calories and carbohydrates would increase but there would be more nutritional gaps.

The oil companies have thrown cows out as a whataboutism excuse, its true.

Ruminants have exist before humans, they are not hurting the environment, they are the environment. Sustainable regenerative ruminant based agriculture is key to maximizing the output of the land.

If you're going to be regurgitating animal ag astroturfing propaganda, I hope they're at least paying you. It'd be really embarrassing if you're just simping for fascist funders for free. Anyway, Cowspiracy is a whole documentary debunking regenerative cattle ranching, in addition to plenty of other sources. The whole thing is just a nonsense nonstarter, and anyone arguing otherwise is right up there with climate deniers and anti-vaccers.

Besides insulting me your response didn't speak to my points or provide any data for me to discuss. I will refrain from insulting you, as that doesn't improve Lemmy.

the study you linked is warmed over poore-nemecek 2018, and it suffers from all the problems of its reference paper.

Another week, another giant industry found to be keeping quiet about destroying the planet for their profits.
