"don't ask about the Epstein case, we got floods in Texas!"

Goes to Texas, gets asked about flood "you're evil for asking me about the flood"

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 40 points 1 day ago (2 children)

This timeline is so fucked up.

[–] arin@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago

Worse than Idiocracy 2006, they tried to talk and listen to the smart ones in the movie.

We are presently on course for the 二分之一 timeline.

In that one, some aliens arrive in the 2030s. They noticed our cruelty and debauchery, and informed us that our extinction will come at our own hands if we continue. The elites of the world laugh this off, and lock the aliens up on some island so their autotroph nature can be studied instead.

Fast forward to the 2060s. COVID has returned, killing more people than ever before. This is on top of the ongoing nuclear civil war in the US, and nuclear devastation elsewhere. With most of the elites dead or hiding in a bunker, many of the people who survived asked the aliens for help. The aliens agreed.

This resulted in a conflict between our present world and a world that appears to be a mix between Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World, supported by the alien followers. The aliens are genuinely, fully willing to give you free healthcare, a long life (people supporting the aliens can live for 200 years), and a life free of worry or suffering (an alien will replace most of your organs when you join, allowing the alien to handle many of your basic needs, like food). The only thing the alien faction asks for in exchange is tossing out human culture - your favorite books, movies, games, etc are all gone, replaced by materials accepted by the aliens.

The alien faction ultimately won by the turn of the 22nd century. The surviving elites tried their hardest to get rid of them, but failed. Instead, the aliens continued to rule the human race unopposed until the close of the 27th century.

What book or series is this from?

[–] ijedi1234@sh.itjust.works 1 points 21 hours ago

It's from 二分之一 aka "1/2 White or Black" aka "Black and White".

It can be found here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1998450/Black__White/

If you can get past the...aesthetics, I believe you'll find the setting to be pretty neat.

[–] ijedi1234@sh.itjust.works 1 points 21 hours ago

I think it's good, though it's the first part of a series. The other parts haven't come out yet.

I keep sharing this link, but the playbook to get Trump to shutup is well written. It's called narcissist collapse. Trump cry's like a baby whenever he gets even the slightest pushback.

This is the way to get rid of him: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/understanding-narcissism/202202/what-is-a-narcissistic-collapse

[–] mister_flibble@sh.itjust.works 20 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Yup. That's why the whole "weird" thing Harris' campaign did towards the beginning was so effective and why they never should have fucking abandoned that strategy. You can't use logic on someone occupying a completely different reality and even rage, however justified, often just gets used as fodder for them to play the victim. But make a narcissist feel embarrassed? Make them feel they're being mocked? They completely fucking short circuit.

At their debate in 2024, when she says that his rallies are full of bored people leaving early, he twitches visibly.

[–] bradinutah@thelemmy.club 40 points 1 day ago (1 children)

More evidence that the Donvict is truly anti-First Amendment.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

Tough guy when using it against others. Weak ass pussy when it's used against him.

[–] besselj@lemmy.ca 34 points 1 day ago

Demanding accountability instead of thoughts and prayers is considered evil. Guess I'm evil now.

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That kind of question is pretty standard after an event like this. What's interesting is how defensive he got though. He knows it was fucked up and he knows it could hurt him so he responds like a scared animal. It blows my mind that anyone can look at things like this and think "yeah there's a strong leader"

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

“Only a bad person would ask a question like that, to be honest with you,” the president said

For real, he is such a weakling, even when he's throwing his little hissy fit here he's reflexively couching it in the "I'm just being 'honest' with you so you're not allowed to get mad at me for being a dick" thing

Also, "bad person," he talks like a five year old

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 24 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

Can't ask about floods , can't ask about Epstein. I guess he just wants to talk about the African countries who came in and kissed his ass for a few hours to get what they want from him.

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 8 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Cause he's a thin skinned bitch.

[–] TheCleric@lemmy.org 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Don’t denigrate bitches like that. He’s a fuckin cunt.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

He lacks the depth, warmth, and flexibility to be a cunt. He's a poor excuse for a pile of feces.

And my favorite quote, when another Republican rep started jumping on the reporter after Trump's initial dig:

Conservative Rep. Chip Roy took a moment to slam the media while speaking.

“For all of the media clamoring to ask that ridiculous first question and try to point fingers, the governor said it best when he said pointing fingers is for losers,” the GOP lawmaker said.

🥴👉

Edit: looks like we have a real answer, and this is likely why Donald was extra-quick to lash out at that first reporter. Excerpt taken from this article

In 2021, the Biden administration awarded Kerr County $10.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, which could have been used for flood prevention infrastructure. But commissioners, facing political pressure from conservative residents, opted not to pursue a warning system.

At an April 2022 meeting, one citizen called the White House a "criminal treasonous communist government," urging the county to reject the money altogether. Others echoed that sentiment, saying they didn't want the federal government's help.

"We don't want to be bought by the federal government, thank you very much," a resident said. "We'd like the federal government to stay out of Kerr County and their money."

While the county ultimately kept the funds, they allocated the majority, about $8 million, to sheriff's department upgrades and public employee stipends.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So they took the "criminal communist" money and misused it to buy shit for themselves. Fucking clowns.

BTW, there's an opportunity for a huge ass civil lawsuit.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I for one am shocked that Joe "fund the police" Biden signed a law that allowed for federal money to be wasted on cop bullshit! Gosh, if only someone has told us there were better ways to protect public safety. Like maybe some protesters or activists somewhere could have said something? I'm sure we would have listened to them and taken them seriously, and we definitely would not have tear gassed them and beat them and shot them with rubber bullets and etc.

Me, bitter? Nooo /s

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Do you always jump in with completely irrelevant talking points?

The money was givem to them as part of ARPA funding and the county misused it. Biden isn't relevant any more. Stop whining about the past and work for a better future.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

You really don't think it's relevant to this story that the president who said he wanted to fund the police in his first state of the union address signed a law that allowed these Republicans to waste federal money on stupid cop bullshit? It's basically guaranteed that if any staffers inside his administration had tried to stop this county or anyone else from wasting this money on stupid cop bullshit they would've been fired on the spot because Biden thought "funding the police" was a political winner.

Stop whining about the past and work for a better future.

This is basically what Greg Abbott and all the Republicans have been saying about this with their "finger pointing is for losers" bullshit, and they're wrong too. Until more people understand our past and understand that there are a lot of shitty Democratic party members who make the damage the Republican party is able to inflict on all of us worse who need to be removed from political influence our future is fucked.

[–] Hylactor@sopuli.xyz 2 points 21 hours ago

More like Cur County

[–] ijedi1234@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 day ago (2 children)

But of course! The reporter dared to question the will of God. You see, God saw that wickedness had infiltrated the land of Texas, so he commanded the waves to rise, and strike this stronghold of debauchery! A functional warning system would interfere with God's Plan for those people. But the wise men running our nation decided to wait until God's Holy Work was completed, so as to not incur God's mighty wrath upon themselves! Praise to our most benevolent and merciful LORD!

And yes, this is evangelical roleplay. Sometimes I do it too well.

[–] Australis13@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sadly you mimic the small-minded willfully ignorant people who call themselves Christians too well. People like that really get on my nerves since it is painfully obvious that they don't know the Bible they claim to believe.

Isaiah 5:20 is always what comes to mind in scenarios like this (e.g. Trump calling accountability evil):

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"

[–] ijedi1234@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

I've had lots of encounters with those Christian crazies. They tried to convert me twice.

[–] Alaik@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

Nah those were white Christian girls. They won't say it was gods wrath, change it to evil DEMONCRAT weather machines.

[–] mp3@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 day ago

The evil ones are those trying to cover up this absolute mess.

[–] Itdidnttrickledown@lemmy.world 12 points 18 hours ago

When trump says your a bad person it means you are a good person. Trump is a zero master. Some people will follow a zero master but most of us recognize he doesn't understand enough to come up with a good thought.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

Good reporters only talk about how Trump is such a gweat wittle pwesident.

[–] ms_lane@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

'Roundtable' meeting?

I didn't know round tables had a throne end...

[–] j0ester@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

As long as he sits in the “middle”. And he decides where the middle is.

That’s a stupid question!
