Don't stop promoting it though. Some signatures might be found to be invalid. Same with the UK petition that reached its goal yesterday.

That's pretty much guaranteed. Some said the safe threshold is 1,2 m, but who knows how the number actually looks after validation. So any signature is still important.
Yeah. I'm actually worried that some people entered bogus data in an effort to boost the petitions.
Wouldn't surprise me if large corporations that are against this forced their non-EU/UK employees to sign this in an attempt to kill it.
I just hope it's natural traffic and not a ton of bots. The recent acceleration in signatures has been great to see, but also a bit... suspicious. In any case we should keep collecting as many signatures as possible after the million, as there will undoubtedly be fake/invalid signatures that will be filtered out at the end.
It's not suspicious to me. It's being talked about all over social media and almost all of the video game YouTubers and streamers have been pushing it these last few days.
The thing is, it would be far from the first time for fans of certain Internet personalities to manipulate petitions or polls on a massive scale. Yes, there has been a lot of genuine new support for the campaign, but I'm not sure I trust that there wasn't quite a bit of botting as well, especially with how many new signatures there were even during late night and early morning hours. It's unfortunately also quite trivial for some countries (like Germany) to enter fake signatures. Even without coordinated botting, I'm sure there were for example some Americans who saw how easy it was to enter a random name and did just that.
I'm really happy about the support the campaign received but I think that, realistically, we're not over the finish line yet and have to keep campaigning for more signatures over the next few weeks.
Edit: Seems Ross agrees
We have the same mechanism of citizen's initiatives here in Finland and many of the initiatives get a big boost early and just before closing. See here for an example https://www.kansalaisaloite.fi/fi/aloite/11377
Wow, it is amazing to watch the numbers skyrocket the past few days!
Go Europe!
Weโre 3k away from 1m! ๐ฎ
Less than a thousand now, we'll have it in 10 minutes or so
900 left! Keep going!
Ok, so that's why I can't get to the site.
What triggered the massive uptick in signatures recently? Was it that Pirate software guy having his video backfire?
The petition (along with the Pirate Software drama) has recently been covered by quite a few very popular content creators like MoistCritikal, Asmongold and Pewdiepie. I think that made a lot of difference, as their videos on the topic have millions of views.
Critical's video on covering the drama caused a massive spike in interest.
It's less than 600 to go at the moment. i'm fairly certain we'll reach the 202 signature per day required.
Wow! I looked yesterday and it was at 660k or something?
