So Trump is openly supporting CSA? Put that on the gigantic pile of stuff evangelicals don’t listen to.

“ReLiGiOuS fReEdOm” and “pArEnT’s RiGhTs”.

Anything that gets in the way of them being hateful and freely treating their children like property without consequence is to be shut down immediately.

You know that evangelical institutions cover up CSA every bit as much as the Catholics were, right?

For some reason it’s not as talked about. But it’s there and it happens.

They don’t want priests to be mandatory reporters either. Even if, technically they don’t believe in the seal of the confessional.

I’m not well enough brushed up on my Christian sects to recognize the difference. I must be misremembering a different word for Christian fanaticism.

He's gotta protect his most valued content creators.

Now watch 1 year later they pass a law to require clergy to report to parents if they believe a child is potentially gay or trans.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's an optimistic timeline. A whole year without hurting the gay or trans kids is much too long for this administration to be comfortable with.

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 1 points 1 week ago

Oh sure, but they have hundreds of ways to do that. They usually give a bit of time to assume everyone's forgotten something before they go full on hypocritical and claiming the opposite

How DARE Democrats try to Allow Pedophiles the Ability to COVER UP THEIR CRIMES!

Oh it's Republicans doing this? Then Democrats need to STOP INFRINGING ON PEDOPHILES FREEDOMS!

[–] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Surely MTG and the other QAnon shitheads in Washington will be calling Trump out for enabling child abuse right?

[–] match@pawb.social 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

note that it is automatic excommunication to disclose anything learned in confession, it's like the main thing

[–] Bo7a@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago

I always trust any group where the 'main thing' that will get you kicked out is ... telling the truth.

So it really wasn't about states' rights

[–] griff@lemmings.world 10 points 1 week ago

Trunk’s GOP is all about letting sexual predators have their way

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Only time the qons care about "states' rights" is when those states are making things actively worst for humans.
