Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Note that the violence, as usual, is almost entirely on the part of the cops

Remember everyone, they didn't wait for shit.

ICE rolled in hard and fast with violence first.

It was never about protesters, never about gangs, never about crime. They were never waiting for someone to "give them reason" for martial law.

They brought the reason. They're bringing the violence.

Don't let them win.

They've won.

ICE rolled in hard and fast with violence first.

How so?

In the past a guy with a clipboard would walk into a restaurant to talk to the owner about how many fines they would be getting. That should be all it takes. If you want to actually catch people, you set up at the exits before Mr clipboard goes in.

Rolling in swat style is looking to pick a fight.

L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn said:

"The ICE raids across Los Angeles today are chilling. They aren't targeting violent criminals - they are sweeping up hardworking people in our communities just trying to provide for their families. These agents are armed to the teeth and it is clear their goal is to make people afraid and it's working. I understand that during this morning's raids, SEIU California President David Huerta was injured by federal agents and wrongfully detained. I am calling for his immediate release. This is a democracy. People have a right to peacefully protest, to observe law enforcement activity, and to speak out against injustice."

Service Employees International Union California President David Huerta was injured and detained while documenting an immigration enforcement raid in downtown Los Angeles on Friday.

Huerta, 58, was treated at a hospital and then transferred to the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown L.A.

“What happened to me is not about me; This is about something much bigger,” he said in a statement from the hospital. “This is about how we as a community stand together and resist the injustice that’s happening. Hard-working people, and members of our family and our community, are being treated like criminals. We all collectively have to object to this madness because this is not justice.”

A senior DHS spokesperson sent ABC7 a statement Friday, but did not directly address the investigations at both locations.

The statement said in part, "ICE is now following the law and placing these illegal aliens in expedited removal, as they always should have been."

If they have a valid credible fear claim, they will continue in immigration proceedings, but if no valid claim is found, aliens will be subject to a swift deportation."

"Expedited removal" means no due process. No judge. No justice. ICE rolled in with military vehicles, arrested over a hundred people in a single day, and will send them all out of the country as fast as they can without any chance to defend themselves or prove they belong here.

They knew what would happen when they raided a city and rounded up people by the truckload. They knew it would spark protests, and in less than two days of unrest and zero dead anyone they're already sending in thousands of National Guard and talking about deploying the fucking Marines on US soil.

They didn't wait for shit. They wanted this, and they're making it happen.

He has been looking for an excuse to do this for a long time.

That’s why we’re here. ICE hit and run a protestor, protestors began throwing cinder blocks and M80s, ICE deployed tear gas, now the National Guard is dispatched.

Hegseth has the Marines standing by, and the Insurrection Act will be next. This is what happens when we get violent before we have the numbers to fight. We’re fucked because people are acting on emotion and completely unaware that this is Trump’s Reichstag Fire.

Split up, overwhelm the resources

You probably meant guerrilla protest tactics, but gorilla protest tactics invoke a hilarious mental image and if that's the direction we want to go, I'm behind it.

Yeah I want to go ape shit!

[–] Today@lemmy.world 14 points 5 hours ago

Will LA be our Kent State? Will it matter?

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 hours ago

And it begins.
