One gets the feeling that Trump wasn’t properly adviced before he started the trade war with China. He clearly miscalculated.

If I were Xi I wouldn’t back down and reallow the export of rare earths even if Trump drops all tariffs. This is their chance to completely dominate the auto industry and they shouldn’t give US automakers a chance to catch a breath.

This is what the morons don't understand. For better or worse, the internal economy of most countries is heavily dependent on trade with other countries. The situation in the US is more extreme due to massive consumption. You can't start cutting the strings of balance without cutting the ones holding you up.
