Hey bud if you won't hold me close at night dont pretend like you want to join in on the call where Im scheduling my next proctoligy appointment.
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
I like to know the health issues of people before holding them close at night. Reduces surprises.
nice metaphore to how people use the social media nowdays... they spill their mind into a public discussion forum and then they are pissed at the "reply guy problem" and try to come up with ways to stop people from talking instead of adjusting their expectations... i get it - everyone wants to be treated nicely but come on!
Oh well absolutely join into a conversation on speakerphone. The point is to piss them off so that they'll correct their behavior.
"I agree, it is annoying to have people being loud and obnoxious when you'd rather they leave you alone. But if you're going to keep doing it then I'm going to keep joining in."
Fuck it. Be passive aggressive. Put music on your phone and sit next to them.
People have private conversations in public but, if I join in, I'm the crazy one~
Like, – yes – those people will have to accept that people may overhear them while talking about their subject but this isn't a new phenomenon. People have always done this.
This is just the dynamic of public spaces.
People have private conversation face to face in a crowd as well - sometimes some things need to be talked about right away and the anonymity of the crowd makes it feel private enough. If you don't know the people, then you know the convo is none of your business - so if you join in, yes, you're viewed as the crazy one, or at least the one with not enough social inteligence.
