It’s kind of worse when you see it on the map, because it appears to be running parallel to an existing developed area, like they built a bypass through the rainforest for the climate summit, not a road for someplace previously unconnected.

I swear those climate summits only exist so the super wealthy and powerful can rub our helplessness under our noses. There‘s no other explanation for this series of increasingly disgusting and perverted events. It‘s not just tone deafness, it‘s a display of power. They‘re fucking the planet simply because they can.

The Dutch historian and writer Rutger Bregman once addressed this in Davos.

'There are 1500 private jets here to hear David Attenborough talk about how we're wrecking the climate... It's like a firefighters conference were no one is allowed to mention water.'

It's a brilliant piece and it's directly adding the fact that the ultra rich just don't pay their taxes. It went viral, yet should be mandatory viewing for every citizen of the world.

Bregman has since not been invited back to Davos...

Ordinary Things also over Davos.

Fun fact, when it premiered, it got removed by youtube about 5 minutes after it went up the first time. Looks like it was a weird glitch, because it stayed up the second time with no real editing being done.

They pat themselves on the back while lying to the people about their achievements. Disgusting.

It's the balcony bailout party overlooking the occupy Wallstreet tents, just slightly better at hiding the contempt.

Really hard to tell what's real and what's fake. What a timeline.

I've been reading "The Power Broker" about Bob Moses, who built an insane amount of expressways in New York. This reminds me of multiple instances in the book where he planned the route in a way that didn't seem to make sense until you learned that a powerful or wealthy person stood to gain from doing it that way.

Robert Moses is such a fascinating character.

Have you listened along with the 99pi Breakdown of the Power Broker? They just finished, and they had lots of guests including Robert Caro!, Pete Butigeg, and AOC.

Haven't listened to that podcast in ages. Thanks for the heads-up, listening while I slave for the man.

You betcha!

until you learned that a powerful or wealthy person stood to gain from doing it that way.

He was also an incredibly petty and racist person. No one stood to gain from the only city park to have an animal motif being the one in Harlem having an monkey motif.

I always wondered why they can't just do a fucking Zoom meeting....

If I hadn't improved my mental health over the last few years I really think I would've offed myself already. It's so fucking depressing it's not even funny anymore.

Also, did they really need four lanes!?
