I lost some multiplayer games because of their anti-cheat, but that "forced" me to go through my backlog (including family-shared games), so I don't mind after all.

Welcome in the fold.

Howโ€™s it been running them? This heroic launcher looks good, time for me to make the migration I thinkโ€ฆ Iโ€™m pretty much all solo play in my old age anyway.

Pretty good, at least on my PC (Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, 3500MB/s SSD, and 4GB GTX 1650). I don't know if it has any impact on performance, but for me it hasn't had any that I could perceive.

The Heroic launcher alows you to sign into Epic Games and GOG, even though some games from Epic (like Fortnite) can't run because of the anticheat.

I heard there are problems with NVIDIA drivers/GPUs in Linux in general, but I don't know much about the topic.

Do you get a black screen when playing games after waking the PC up? I have a similar setup with a 5600g and RTX3080 and heard it was an Nvidia driver issue.

Nope, I don't. Maybe in the future, with a change of GPU I might, but right now I haven't found that error

Not sure what kind of multi player game you prefer. Dota 2 and CS have perfect Linux support and it may worth a try

CS does not, sadly. Its the one game i have to dual boot for. The native Version doesnt really get treated equally as the win version and is a bit slower. If you wanna try to play a bit more competitive, you will sadly feel the difference, though the linux version is working fine for casual play.

Sorry to hear it. I'm a casual player and the Linux performance worked well for me. If playing CS competitively, the little difference in performance is crucial.

I might give CS another shot, I used to play Valorant, Apex Legends, Fortnite...

[โ€“] TheSchatz@lemm.ee 5 points 2 days ago

I used to play a lot of Apex before the Linux ban, and have since moved on to Overwatch 2 which works perfectly with proton.

My wife and most of my friends were super supportive and also dropped Apex when they blocked Linux, even though they all use windows. Playing with friends has made Overwatch far more fun than I remember from playing years ago!

Those games also lost something your business.

Wait until you see how many retro games you can play ! (Entirely for free ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ)
