The cassette cases are really cool! I keep my Gameboy games in custom DS cases. It's really nice having all of my gba/DS games looking uniform on the shelf. I kind of wish the Switch had kept that form factor.

Its funny how often I am seeing that same sentiment (missing the slim 3DSish style cases) shared everywhere. Not too many fans of the Switch cases!
Amazing work as always! Gaming journalism as it should be.
Nintendo really doubling down in the heel turn recently 🤢
I think they might have finally beaten their Nintendo curse though: one console is a huge success, the next is a fair failure. The Switch 2 will be a winner, but there's no way it can be the same cultural phenomenon that the first was (I'd say)
And thank you, you're very kind to say!!!
I've been playing (and loving) Fallout London. It turns out that the pokey little locations in their games are Bethesda's fault. The engine does still suck, but it doesn't have to suck as much as it does in their hands. London is huge!
I still have London on my backlog!
The fact I waited means I've had a few updates and patches to make it run prettier, but I need to have some solid time to dive in!
This is great! Such solid content.
I am also so incredibly disappointed in switch 2 news. We have a steam deck, so it won't be too missed. I don't think I'd be able to resist, though, if it were in my face every day like that. Good luck!
I picked up death stranding free giveaway recently and am waiting for the summer to dive in. Pretty stoked for it.
Right now, been playing marvel rivals with my kids. It's a blast, and my daughter is a marvel nerd.
Thank you!!!
My thoughts on the Switch 2 are...contradictory. I like what they're doing, but it feels iterative. I love my Switch because it is so small and cute, but it makes sense that a bigger screen (and joy-cons for ergonomics?) is better for a gamer. Worst is Nintendo doing Nintendo things and being a bit too predatory for my liking! From what I can see...it's better to get an OLED and get a chip installed (CFW is soooooo nice to customize everything!). At least until maybe some sales on hardware happen? IDK.
Please let me know what you think of Death Stranding! I love to hear people's thoughts. It can be so polarizing.
Will do!
I have one of the hackable OG switch, no chip needed. Tried all the OS options. Pretty fun to tool around with. So cool that people spend that kind of energy making cfw and the like.
I've had them all!
I had an original V1 which I had the jig/payload method for, and I've had a couple of OLEDs which I micro-soldered the chips onto. But after selling all mine off long ago (I preferred to emulate the games on my Steam Deck after getting it!), I picked up a cheap V2 and chipped it, too!
I love themezer (choosing themes are like a daily fun thing for me to do!)
That's damn cool!
Maybe it's nostalgia, but their cute little format and the huge selection of mods and aftermarket parts just makes me happy
I've been cheated!
Could not find post in your instance.
I really need to get into the habit of just linking all my previous ones at the end of each of these. I just worry it'll look 'messy' or something!
I guess its easier to just follow my username then filter by posts? Or...something. Thanks for asking though, that is a confidence boost to see it wanted!!!!!! <3
I'm not sure how this works, but I checked your posting history and it didn't show up there, either. I guess the great weakness of the fediverse is if the links are interrupted. Perhaps it was due to instance maintenance or something.
Oh how odd!
Thank you for letting me know, from the next post I share I'll start including links to all the previous installments I've made, to make it easier for people to navigate to them. What a strange thing to not be able to find them, I'm sorry!
First time reader and its amazing :D
The past weeks i got back into playing some Diablo 2 and played some worms armageddon with friends. Worms has some free & legal options to play but i need to look into how i make them work.
If you're interested, I have another 9 of these via my profile!!!
Those upcycled cassette tape cases are sweet! Whoever came up with that idea is my new favorite person.
There's a big, big, big community for those out there! So many options for doing so, and even custom cabinets that have been made to make displaying them easier, too!
Personally I've been cooking through the System Shock games. The SS1 remake was my first proper introduction to the series and I loved it. I was pretty excited for the impending System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition but it, uh... doesn't really seem like it's going to be very enhanced. Especially compared to what you can do with just modding the base game. So rather than keep waiting for that I spent ten bucks on SS2 Classic and have been enjoying myself greatly.
I've always liked SHODAN just via cultural osmosis, but now having actually played the games she stars in, that's cranked up to 12. I fucking love SHODAN. She might be one of the best examples of an evil rogue AI in any media, and also has an actual reason for going rogue besides just "mankind builds a machine too smart for them and suffers the consequences". The entire story setup is so believable.
Anyway, tl;dr, the System Shock games are hella good and the remake is especially very good. Particularly because controlling classic SS1 is more like playing an operating system than playing a video game. Also SHODAN. ~~step on me again metal mommy~~
I got to the System Shock games after Prey (2017), not only am I WAY too young to have been around for them, but it just kinda went past me. But after that spiritual successor I visited the System Shock games, and I love them!
I'm hoping the SS2 is good, because I loved what they did with the first! It's never meant to be a remake, just a polish of the game itself.
Your posts are the highlight of my Lemmy feed ❤️.
Thank you for these news/updates :D
As a lover of physical packaging and manual a bit saddened by the current full digital tendencies it was great to learn about all these info!
I think it's a 'cozy' feeling - seeing a tangible bit of fun modern games you can hold? IDK, but whenever I find these it makes me happy too!
