I’m at the age where I should say no to desert more often.

Instead, I look over my computer and realize I ate that entire bag of cookies I just opened 30 minutes ago and say, “Oops.”

Unless you’re eating sand, you probably should be saying no to dessert. Yes, I am fun at parties.

Mmmm, no, very mammalian

Too… much? That’s a thing? You’re yanking my chain. As a Dutchman, cheese is my religion. We eat about 22 kilos per capita here, US is about 18. And seeing the overall state of the US, I can only assume low cheese levels are to blame.

Can I offer you a nice block of Gouda in these trying times?

Yes please, we'll try anything at this point. If it's eat more cheese, I'm in.

This statement will in no way ever come back to harm them...

So you used to be cool. You still are, but you used to be, too.

Is that a big pot full of cheese? I like cheese too but damn that's a lot of fucking cheese.

pities this poor, fondue-deprived child

[–] RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ah so this what cheese fondue is. We don't really have that here but will try and find a good restaurant nearby that sells one.

[–] mst@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

It's not that hard to make it yourself. If you can get some decent cheese.

[–] RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I am pretty bad at cooking although this does look easy to cook. And whenever I want to try something new for the first time, I always try to find a good restaurant that makes it as authentic as possible so I can decide whether its something I like.

For fondue you can quite literally get a small heater and pre-made cheese that will melt at the temp.the heater is set to. My parents spring for the fancy one that did chocolate as well when I was a kid

Making it from scratch is pretty easy too, honestly, it's like making a cheese sauce for Mac and cheese but you do it in a pot, add wine, and use a different cheese. If you can boil 4 ingredients together and mix, and find some bread to dip it in, you're golden

Look, I don't appreciate being called out this hard.

Could also be the weather's turning.
