Liberals are downvoting this post so hard. they don't like talking about how Harris is just as establishment compatible as Biden is. and how she will carry on with his genocidal policies.

Vote Blue no matter have no morals

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

They're in the honeymoon phase still. I really hope she beats Trump but damn, once she has to start talking off script and doing debates... yikes. It's going to be rocky.

[–] Soulg@sh.itjust.works -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

No I doubt it, just more of the same of people like you being angry she's not perfect enough

[–] queue@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 10 months ago

The bar is "Don't accept money from genociders to stay neutral or give arms to the genociders."

Trump fails it 24/7, now Harris is.

Watch out, you're going to piss off the neoliberals! Influx of bad arguments based on false dichotomies in 3...2...1...

But the important thing here is that you now have a way to discourage people from voting for Harris just like you had a way to discourage people from voting for Biden.

Anything but stop the rapist dictator from marching all the Latino and queer people into camps.

[–] StupidBrotherInLaw@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Clearly criticism for a candidate has no other purpose than getting people to vote for their opponents.

/d

Oh wait, that's actually true if you live in the United States, where you lot play politics like team sports.

Anything but stop the racist dictator from completely destroying gaza and slaughtering all the Muslim children, more like.

Why are we so quick to assume Harris will not listen to pro-palestinian protestors? She's made some good decisions recently, maybe she'll keep the good times rolling.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago

She did listen to them. She literally was talking to them before they interrupted her rally. She has been consistently critical of Netanyahu, far more than Joe Biden.

And suggesting we should not vote for Harris and allow a domestic genocide as if Trump would do anything to stop the Israeli genocide is just nonsense.

[–] tyler@programming.dev 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I mean. If she wants to keep following what Biden was doing then Donald Trump will win. Maybe listen to the protestors once in a while, since they have the power to make or break your presidency. Not saying that what the protestors were doing wasn’t rude, but the point of protesting is to enact change so maybe make your policy clear and make sure it’s the right one.

Trending on Musk network, spread by tankies.

How about this, which none of you propaganda bots failed to mention:

Before her rally in Detroit, Vice President Kamala Harris spoke briefly with the co-founders of the Uncommitted National Movement, which mobilized tens of thousands of voters in Michigan to withhold their votes from President Biden in the primary earlier this year over his support for Israel’s war in Gaza. Abbas Alawieh and Layla Elabed said they were in the welcoming line for Harris and Governor Walz, and communicated to Harris that they wanted to support her but that voters wanted her to consider an arms embargo to immediately stop the carnage in the besieged enclave.”

Harris listened to stories of people in Michigan who have had dozens of family members killed in Gaza. The leaders asked to meet with her about the embargo request, and she indicated she was open to it, and introduced the two leaders to her staff.

Wait, I know why you didn't add that, because you don't give a damn about Palestine.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Well... I was wondering how long it would take you to go from posting anti-Biden articles to anti-Harris articles.

Looks like it only took a couple of weeks.

[–] archomrade@midwest.social 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Like getting angry with the weatherman for reporting on the rain.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Except no it isn’t because they were inundating us with anti-Biden posts before he stepped down. And as has been pointed out elsewhere in the comments, the article is deceptive.

[–] archomrade@midwest.social 1 points 10 months ago

If it's raining a lot, they're going to report on the rain a lot, too.

And by what metric is this article deceptive? Her speech was interrupted, and there are uncommitted voters concerned about her gaza policy. They even referenced the conversation they had with Harris before the rally:

Leaders of the Uncommitted National Movement, which supported voting "uncommitted" on Democratic primary ballots rather than voting for Biden, briefly spoke with Harris at the Detroit rally.

"Michigan voters want to support you, but we need a policy that will save lives in Gaza right now. I meet with community members every day in Michigan who are losing tens and hundreds of family members in Gaza. Right now, we need an arms embargo," Layla Elabed, a co-founder of Uncommitted, told Harris, according to the group.

Y'all are just to traumatized to handle even the slightest political tension. This isn't even necessarily a bad moment for Harris, it just alludes to some lingering disagreement between the base and leadership that has yet to be resolved, which is to be expected at this point.

Go touch some grass or something.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's from a very reputable news source, NBC News. Many other outlets are covering it too. They did an entire segment with pundits discussing it on CNN. It's still a big issue that can't be swept under the rug

Here's the CNN segment: https://youtu.be/jfyfdThTZ88

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago

Yes, the story is fine. The way it is being spun by you and the original source you provided is not.

You don't care that she spoke to the protesters before the rally began. You only care that she shut them down when they interrupted the rally.

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee -1 points 10 months ago

That's fair, people are there to listen to Harris not whatever random audience members can shout the loudest.

[–] TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago

I wish my fellow leftists would realize that protests like these don't work. We don't further our cause by alienating ourselves from the political mainstream. We need to be concerned with the efficacy of our actions, not only the justification for them. Having good intentions is not enough, we also need effective strategies.

What this hack piece of news failed to report:

Before her rally in Detroit, Vice President Kamala Harris spoke briefly with the co-founders of the Uncommitted National Movement, which mobilized tens of thousands of voters in Michigan to withhold their votes from President Biden in the primary earlier this year over his support for Israel’s war in Gaza. Abbas Alawieh and Layla Elabed said they were in the welcoming line for Harris and Governor Walz, and communicated to Harris that they wanted to support her but that voters wanted her to consider an arms embargo to immediately stop the carnage in the besieged enclave.”

[–] RozhkiNozhki@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Took me too long to realize ozma is truly a concern troll. Rooting for Harris while shitting on Biden, now shitting on Harris like they didn't endorse her just recently. Blocked.

[–] queue@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

"Genocide is bad, and I want to criticize those who stand by and let it happen."

"Erm, concern trolling much?!"

[–] RozhkiNozhki@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

If you look at other threads about the same news piece she had a meeting with the uncommitted about Gaza prior to her rally. Who's ignoring who?

[–] queue@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The person saying "Don't publicly criticze me, I will agree behind doors where the press and public can't see it. The public don't need to see me make public statements that murder is bad."

[–] RozhkiNozhki@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

She's quite vocal about her position on Gaza. What do you want her to do exactly? She can let these people shout all they want and this will help how?

[–] queue@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 10 months ago

And it's better to tell them to shut up? Fuck your right to question the government?
