Also, democrats had had since 1973 to codify roe v wade but they never did.
The democrats are also not a serious party. They are grifters.
And that's why we are in this mess.
Democrats have proposed:
(And likely more I'm forgetting)
All related to codifying Roe / protecting women's choice, and all failing to pass into law due to Republican resistance. Politely fuck off with that nonsense.
Freedom of Choice Act: Joe Manchin (D) voted against, nullifying the tie breaker effect that the VP (D) would've had.
Reproductive Freedom for Women Act: Bill was introduced too late, killed on Jan 3rd 2025 as it still hadn't reached the senate floor by presidential turnover. Certainly feels like it was on purpose. It's not like senators don't know how long bills take to pass.
Women's Health Protection Act: Joe Manchin (D) voted against, nullifying the tie breaker effect that the VP (D) would've had.
Ensuring Access to Abortion Act: Never passed the 60 vote threshold.
Freedom to Travel for Health Care: Never passed the 60 vote threshold.
You got more? Keep them coming. I can keep showing you how Democrats torpedo their own bills and then blame the Republicans to keep the status quo and keep fundraising off of us.
Yeah for the last two there, the filibuster is the culprit. But Democrats also had the opportunity to get rid of it with Biden and didn't. So then you deal with it, keep bringing the bill on the floor till you get cloture.
But at least they don't try to set everything on fire. Still the better option. But still not great.
Sounds like you're blaming the party on one-two D votes for the bills failing, while ignoring the entire arsonist party that enabled those singular votes to break them.
Edit - again, never even a proposal from republicans to correct or build on the ACA, just wholesale destruction, like everything the party does.
Look I'm not saying the Republicans are good. Not in the slightest. They suck. And worse than Democrats.
For someone not saying that, you sure are saying "both sides" bullshit.
I don't understand.
If I post the George Carlin clip of how it's a big club and you're not in it, we might as well be in some backwoods country church, just drowning in people screaming "Amen!"
If I say that both parties don't have your interests in mind and will throw you under the bus to keep hoarding wealth, I'm a tankie Russian bot who's probably a Republican collaborator.
What's the difference?
Then I guess we're in agreement, I'd like more options as well and ranked voting should be law of the land to enable that. In the meantime US is stuck with one party actively hostile to life and liberty, and another that struggles to enact progress at every pass. Given that, I really can't stand hearing "but the dems" in an environment where that's all we've got.
When you like something you try your beat to change it. What did you do try to change it?
Manchin might have a (D) next to his name, but he's always been a republican in spirit. He cheered hard for Trump. Only reason the party accepts him is that no real democrat is gonna win west Virginia and they need every seat they can get in order to have a majority
Essentially the entire system is bullshit and while the democrats are ineffective, I'm not sure they're always ineffective on purpose.
The democrats only controlled congress briefly under Obama and anything they tried to pass got stonewalled by Mitch the bitch and Manchin
