yeah hard pass, I used to play The Crew.
How many other MMO's do you know that got an offline patch?
Dunno, but I know an awful lot of skateboarding games that are perfectly fun without being online 100% of the time. Same goes for racing games. Making them singleplayer, and fun, when you've already got the entire multiplayer aspect set up, isn't hard.
I give it 3 years max.
