Our local newspaper's website has a classifieds section that's well utilized.

Something on the same scale as Craigslist but more modern is lacking. But anything big and centralized like that will eventually go to shit. So maybe smaller regional sites should be the way to go.

What needs to be more modern about Craigslist? I appreciate that it gives you exactly what's necessary to sell your old shit, and nothing more

That's a fair point.

I seem to recall scamming and similar were quite prevalent. I don't know if that's still the case. But even so, that doesn't really have anything to do with the interface or functionality, I suppose.
