No.
So, because I voted for Harris, and have been voting against this sort of shit all my life here in Texas, I deserve to burn?
I'm going to take a different tact here, just based on interactions with Canadians.
My Canadian friends know that I'm not a Trump supporter. They know that I have wanted to get out of the US for years now, and that I think the US has gone to shit and is now overrun by fascists. But that doesn't mean they can exempt me from the hurt they need to put on the US. That's not how it works. They've got to hit the USA back where it hurts, and that means in the pocketbook. And that means we all are in the brawl. They line up shoulder to shoulder and go elbows up because solidarity is where it's at when your former buddies from across the way punch you in the face unexpectedly. What I don't understand is how Americans could have expected Canadians to just roll over and take it. I mean, the Canadian national sport is Hockey, where going 'elbows up' is something you can expect on a regular basis. And we're now in the virtual equivalent of a Hockey brawl (and can be in a very real one if we dare think we can just invade -- last time we did that, they burned down the White House!).
31% of American voters aren't the only people who need to suffer, either. You're counting the 77m people who voted Trump in that number, and pointing out that 75m voted Harris. Well, what about the 2m who voted third part and the 90m+ people who stayed home? Doncha think those people have some responsibility for Trump? And how exactly are the Canadians and Europeans supposed to know which group you are part of? You say you voted Harris, but you can't prove that (and shouldn't want to with the rise of Fascism). You could be a closet Trump supporter that just SAYS you are a Harris supporter, and nobody would know better.
So, in summary, yes. As a Harris voter, you are gonna have to feel the heat from Canada and Europe and the rest of the civilised world. They can't avoid targeting you when they target the entire USA. You're an American, and right now, they have to worry about their people and not the fraction of the USA that voted to stay sane. The best they can do is try to rescue the 'good' Americans, but right now, even that's a step too far because American economics has infected them to the point that they can't even house their own populace. So, rather than getting mad at Canadians and Europeans, let's get mad at the real perps here, the shitgibbon and his merry band of miscreants and everyone who enabled that bunch of assholes by voting for them, voting third party, or staying home.
Their standpoint is that you allowed it to happen around you due to your inaction.
I'll just be a lone gunman running into the whitehouse then. How does that fix anything?
How about you start organizing community?
That's something you can actually do to resist.
Man, I’m on the spectrum. People aren’t my jam. Never have been. I’m not a leader, nobody has ever listened to me. I can’t organize anything, and I’m scared to death to actually meet people. I’m more scared to death that I’ll end up in jail, leaving my disabled wife to fend for herself. It’s hard enough to go to work every day. There’s no energy left.
As a trans, AuDHD, DID system, I'm tired to buddy.
But the only way to not feel like that is community.
It doesn't have to be much. Libraries offer ton of programming for all kinds of folks. Just start showing up unabashedly and if they don't like it, you don't have to stay either.
But the only way to survive is together.
I'm just telling you the kind of shit I'm told. Hell, a lot of our peers bash us for voting for Harris because she was pushing Israel, which is such a shit take that I can hardly believe they use it knowing how Trump treats the issue.
A lot of people were pushing the meme that Harris was worse somehow than Trump, and that they'd stay home or vote third party because nothing Trump could do would be worse than what Harris and the Democrats were doing RE: Gaza.
Gaza is now being slated for demolition and rebuilding by a shyster and shithead, and Israel is escalating its war, while Ukraine is now left hanging in the breeze. All thanks to those people.
Good job, people. You made it worse.
It's YOUR country. If you can't fix it, then you're complicit.
