Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

This is a great idea. Moving everything from the Feds to the states is a core conservative value, so they should welcome this.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lol nah. Their only core value is hypocrisy, so they absolutely would not welcome it.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's a shame, too. If "states rights" ended up being the fatal flaw in a neo-Confederate coup attempt, that would be just desserts.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They care about this as much as they care about proper handling of classified information

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They'll care plenty when their representatives start getting tossed in state penitentiaries, where they can't be pardoned.

Lol yeah, right

Rule of law for fascists does not apply in fascism buddy

You literally have a convicted felon as president

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

States are different from Federal. If a blue state incarcerates a MAGA leader, there's nothing HitlerPig can do to get them loose, short of military force.

It would be fun to snatch up Jr on a cocaine charge.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh yeah? How is that Georgia election racketeering going for Trump now?

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

A state will never get HitlerPig, he's got SCOTUS immunity superpowers, but that immunity doesn't extend to anyone else. If one of his henchmen has broken state laws, throw the state book at them.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I desperately want to believe you, give me one single example so I can buy it

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Whats to buy? Its simple: If The MuskRat has been bribing people for their votes, and it violates state laws, that state can choose to arrest him, prosecute him, and imprison him, and there is nothing HitlerPig can do about it. He can pardon for federal crimes, but not state crimes.

The problem is that there are lot of major tipping points lining up, and everybody is waiting for one to finally tip. Maybe it will be the arrest of The MuskRat, maybe it will be the Luigi trial/verdict, maybe it will be the first American citizen that gets designated as a terrorist and shipped to El Salvador without due process, maybe it will be the cancellation of SS payments, maybe it will be a violent government reaction to a protest, etc.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

So you don't have a single example where a connected crony of the federal gov, is actually brought to justice by a State?

I bet you the pizza of your choice nothing will happen tobMusk over this clear vote bribing

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Of course I don't, that's the point. It's time for this to start happening. HitlerPig is using an archaic, rarely used, ancient law to justify the worst sort of authoritarian behavior (denied due process), so why not use actual contrmporary laws that are enforced every day, and for which ANY other person would be charged for?

The Right is always screaming about State's Rights, but they never consider how the swords they deploy against their enemies have two edges, and can be turned against themselves as well. Building an opposition strategy around State's Rights, and using alliances between Blue states to stand up against MAGA is one way to consolidate and focus resistance.

It's time for this to start happening

You can't possibly be this naive
