ok, so was this guy some kind of idiot? why would someone just say these incriminating things so openly and brazenly?
He was in jail already, he knew he was about to die and he wrote to a fellow imprisoned pedophile to say trump's one of us, but we're the ones in jail, life's not fair.
That's the context.

From the letterhead it looks like it was sent from a corrections facility. So he was already locked up and probably realized he was already cooked.

If I'm not mistaken they were both in prison already at the time - maybe it was a way to "get attention" to try to start a blackmail negotiation? (Didn't pan out well for him, it seems)
Dude was about to kill himself, it didn't matter anymore at this point.
He knew he was about to die. That could mean suicide, but he knew the rules of the game he was playing.
The gap and editing in the prison footage still implies murder, i think. He just knew it was coming.
Its also possible they helped him kill himself
