President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he is appointing Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as the United States Special Envoy to Greenland.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said Landry “understands how essential Greenland is to our National Security” and will work to advance U.S. interests in the region.

Trump’s announcement did not include details about the scope of Landry’s duties or how the role would intersect with his responsibilities as governor.

This is a developing story stay with WWL Louisiana for updates.

Wow, this feels like the twilight zone.

I am pretty sure I've heard this exact same argument before, more than once, but instead of Greenland being taken over by the U.S., first it was my own blue city being taken over by conservative leadership. Then, it was about federal takeovers of all blue U.S. cities and states. Now Greenland is supposed to view their own invasion and takeover by a war mongering hot mess (who can't even provide basic health care and housing for their own citizens) as a net positive? Are you fucking kidding me?

Basically it boils down to, "this is for your own good, and if you refuse to see that, you're just afraid of progress because you've been conditioned to fail." Is that right?

Louisiana's Comeback story

"'Someday Louisiana is going to get good government, and when they do, they ain't gonna like it.' I think we're ready to take that risk."

(BTW, We're still dead last in just about every one of those metrics they mention, and quality of life has taken such a dramatic nosedive over the past year that it would almost be funny if I wasn't living here.)

Anyway, the Louisiana Comeback campaign was created by State Policy Network (SPN) Louisiana affiliate, the Pelican Institute. SPN was founded by Heritage Foundation board member Thomas Roe with the goal of creating a network of think tanks across the U.S. to target state level policy by following the same strategy that allowed Heritage to hijack and dismantle many federal policies.

Basically, SPN creates the narrative and collects the "research" that is then passed out to members of ALEC, who then cite that research as evidence that justifies the whacky and unethical laws they create.
