I've always wanted to talk about how weird it was scrolling through reddit and then suddenly seeing myself on the front page. I was banned from reddit for talking about politics (I am anti trump) on the air force reddit so I wasn't even able to comment on a post about me.
For some backstory, I was returning from a Halloween cruise and it was the only clean shirt I had left (I was planning on wearing it during the cruise as there were no children allowed on the cruise and with the theme I thought it would get a few laughs or at least start a conversation). I never did though and doing laundry on a cruise was quite expensive (I think 50 dollars per load or something like that). I tried to hide the shirt as best I could throughout the day as I do think it was slightly inappropriate to wear in a public setting.
For the record, I love all the comments roasting me and I laughed all fucking day reading them!
Anyways, I have always wanted to publicly talk about this and in my search for reddit alternatives I found lemmy so here we are. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

If you're sick of politics, make your own subscription list (on lemmy) or feed (on piefed) without politics. e.g.:
I mean yeah I could do that, but they keep me up to date with the current madness. Which i think is important, even if I hate it.

I've tried Lubuntu with limited success and now it's Zorin.
Other than not being able to install whatever missing sound codex makes my Fallout TV show MKVs silent yet, it's going well so far 🤷
I haven't tried zorin yet. What codex are tiu missing?

I ducked it and typed "Sudo apt install opus-tools" in the terminal as instructed, but all that seems to accomplish is to install Microsoft Core Fonts for some bizarre reason 🤦
I might be wrong but isn't it libopus-dev? I thinkni remember coming across it before. I can't look it up properly atm but I can later after Christmas celebration to help.
An MKV could include a host of different audio stream codecs. You'd have to first find out which one(s) your files are using, with a tool like
mediainfo, for example.Some media players like mpv or mplayer variants usually come bundled with a bunch of typical codecs.
Could it be that it's a "proprietary" one like DTS or AC3 (alias Dolby Digital) which for that reason your distro does not ship out of the box?
