I would love to be wrong, but I don't think that guy is wrong. Show this video to a Republican voter and I think they probably would agree with everything in that montage.
I think they would say it is all taken out of context. But that’s because they are purposefully ignoring what the actual issues are. Like DEI is not about hiring unqualified people, but they will act like that’s what it’s all about.
"Okay, but whatabout..."
Stop trying to change the conversation! They get it. They get that racism is guiding their motives, but they're not racist. They have a black friend! But he's one of the good ones...
As many humans do, I think we tend to simplify complex situations. I see it here, where we treat heterogeneous groups of people as a monolith. Republicans think of the worst examples of Democrats as representative of the whole and vice versa, when there are truly a multitude of beliefs in each. Not all Republicans are evil racists.
Many are stupid racists, or simply stupid but not racist, racist but otherwise not stupid, or evil but indiscriminate. Some are even evil, racist, and stupid - see: Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump.
The Republican party is a melting pot of the worst the country has to offer. Don't take that hard fought diversity away from them.
