Bet you never thought you'd read that combination of words anywhere other than on the back of a Dan Brown book, did you.

(article is paywalled, unfortunately, but there's enough there to get the gist)

Wow how very original.

The Pope is the AntiChrist?

Really?

I'm fairly sure that for at least the past 150 years, at least one either fairly prominent or at least fairly loud Protestant sect or denomination has been claiming the current Pope is the AntiChrist.

It's a little older than that, friend. Martin Luther himself proclaimed that the pop was the antichrist, and the Vatican was the whore of Babylon.

Absolutely true, I just think that for ~150 years, its been continuous... though that may very well be the case going back much further as well, I'm less well versed in European history than US history.

Are you still a member of a suprisingly extreme branch of Christianity that just pretends it is normal, or did you bounce off of it, like I did, after actually reading a good deal of the Bible?

Oh yeah I'm an atheist now

What's weird isn't someone calling [insert current Pope here] the Antichrist, but the fact that this time it's Peter Thiel saying it.

That's just something I expect from Christian conservatives, not... whatever kind of conservative Thiel is.
