Those people have significant autonomy, and far, far more agency than before the CPC. Hong Kong was run by a council mostly appointed by the crown and major businesses, Tibet's people were literal slaves to the theocratic ruling class. Now they both elect representitives to send to congresses, whom enact their will.

What would Indonesia be an example of? I'm not too familiar beyond the political mass killings in the 60s and their actions in West Papua and Timor Leste.

Before the CCP existed maybe but definitely not before the CCP took over in recent years. Indonesia will be the next to be colonized by China, they're already militarily reliant so it's only a matter of time to escalate from there. I'm sure Chinese agents are already looking at every option to overthrow the current government. After that, China will be helping the Pakistani militants attack India from the west and promote radicals and dissidents from the north east, looking for an opportunity to carve out a slice.
