App stores are the worst thing to happen to phone tech. Back in the Nokia days there were no restrictions on installing any app you want as there were no official app stores and that's how it should be, imagine if Microsoft made it impossible to install apps outside of its windows app store, no would accept that, so why do we accept it for mobiles OS's

Oh, that's coming, just wait and see.

I'll switch to Linux before dealing with that nonsense

Don't you already deal with enough nonsense? Copilot, higher office prices with AI included, uninstallable edge that begs you to stay as default browser, OneDrive that sends all your personal data to microsoft, telemetry, ads, "Sorry this computer doesn't support windows 11", try to prevent work-arounds to use it without microsoft account...

Don't wait any longer dude, make the switch.

I don't have a job at the moment, can't risk borking my rickety laptop at the moment but once I'm back on my feet I'll get rid of windows for good

And to say that you're just scratching the surface 🙄
