so we’ve always had democracy? and we still do? hold up, lemme ask the folks kidnapped by ice if they heard from their reps yet.

First, democracy isn't a binary. It's not a case of "it's either perfectly democratic or not democratic vat all"

Secondly, using the current day extreme thuggery of ICE as a refutation of a decrease in democracy compared to the recent past isn't the home run you seem to think it is. In fact, it's proof that you're trying to hit the baseball for a field goal with a hockey stick.

i’m trying to say, at a federal level, we have never actually had democracy. E V E R. 250 years of history containing oligarchs, capitalism, class warfare, racism, and manufactured consent does not leave room for any level of actual democracy.

i’m trying to say, at a federal level, we have never actually had democracy

And I'm saying that that's not true, while conceding the fact that it's always been flawed.

250 years of history containing oligarchs, capitalism, class warfare, racism, and manufactured consent does not leave room for any level of actual democracy.

Wrong again. You should REALLY let go of your false dichotomy that only a perfectly democratic system is a democracy at all. Otherwise you'll never be satisfied OR right.

oh. the only perfectly democratic system, imho, is a syndicalist one, but that’s just my flawed opinion.
