Theres a LOT of natives that are on both sides of this one just FYI. sfgate did a good job at showcasing one side. I don't have teeth in the game but there is an ongoing movement to expand Fresno by leaps and bounds drawn from the huge housing price increases, people settling in from outside the city (gentrification) and the city population growing. Apartments are now renting 2x what mortgages are going for, its insane. And Fresno is supposed to be the affordable place in Cali.
On the other hand, Fresno dont have facilities to maintain our current city as is. So if a a side of town gets expanded, it needs to have enough water/fire department coverage/streets/etc...etc... its a bit of a mess.
And the city is VERY politically divided. For every political stance you have, Fresno has an equal opposite person with that very stance almost guaranteed.
I expect a lot of fighting for and against this one.
