Also, when you want to remove them (partially or in spring), just mow them and leave the mulch. Easiest cleanup, good for the plants and wildlife

Aside from the wildlife that was hiding in the leaves you just ran though a gasoline powered blender that is.

But yeah, you're right. Goes without saying that one should try to evict as many leaf-tenants as possible beforehand.

Would be nice if there was some timeframe where this is safe for most wildlife

Does this kill the bug?

Like, for real..what are the chances of the bug getting hit by the blade, in the first place? Its one fast blade vs one real small bug. Possibly one with the gift of flight.

Then it's in a bag full of grass. And aren't most bugs passive breathers? So wouldn't all the air rushing through the vacuum into the bag just like, idk, give them superpowers or something?

I tried this for the first time this year. I was surprised how clean it looked afterwards, the leaf mulch mostly disappears into the grass.

I read about mulch once.
