They've shut down the government for more than a month holding out for healthcare, that's not exactly form over function.

JFC I shouldn't need to defend the dems, there's so much valid criticism out there. But saying they're not doing something as a way to dismiss the #1 example of them doing something is kinda... unreasonable.
It’s not like they can just shut down the government any time they want. It’s down because there is no budget agreement, which only happens once a year. For the previous 8 months, every court has bent the knee to Trump.
They’re doing something right now. Now is the time to be hopeful, and use that hope to further steps into the right direction. Go donate to a food co-op or something instead of doomposting on lemmy

Sure, but they could have done this in May, and they decided to give Donald license to do another summer of fascism AND helped ease the passage of the BBB, after spending the first four months of the year destroying the country. Again, I will give them credit when they do something meaningful.
They're only acting now out of self-interest and nothing else. Definitely glad to see them doing the bare minimum even if it's for selfish reasons, but let's be clear, this is the bare minimum.
You agree they can't shut the government down any time they want, and then you want them to do exactly that...
