Experience does not fill me with hope
I still can't believe people lived through the first Trump presidency and decided they wanted another.
If you live in America, you know that guy who says shit like, "I'm not racist, but...", then the guy who thinks women are inferior, then the guy who is all out racist, then the Christian guy who's told America's Religion is at stake, then the guy who owns stocks and sees Republicans as his route to eternal wealth, and then ratio that into each American's collective of acquaintances. Then of all the other people left, only 40% of them bother to vote. Harris could have won probably if more registered Dems bothered to vote. But we all look at the bigots and groupthink takes over, as no way those assholes could win anything.
It was Harris' job to give voters a reason to go out and vote. She lost because she was a poor campaigner.
People are very stupid like that. There's almost always a midterms pendulum swing in the opposite direction of the ruling party in this country. It's damn near impossible for people's opinions to more permanently shift on political parties. I think the last time this happened was with the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. That pretty much cemented racist's support for the Republican party in this country ever since.
The most watched "news" station in the US is Fox News. And the other stations aren't much better. The population is no longer really informed.
Rarely does.
