"Well the fact that it was so believable is proof enough that people like that exist!!"
Said by the network whose audience believes anything said network feeds them.
Hey! They come back from commercials and say they are the most trusted name in news. Now does that sound like a thing that a liar would state to distract from the truth?
There is some level of value to that statement. We’ve reached a point where information is easily accessible and entirely worth distorting in bulk. Every day is mired by constant propaganda, whether through ads, posts, family, or friends poisoned by think tanks and bigots and political commentators. Often all three.
I know for a fact that I succumb to some amount of propaganda, and others do as well, you included. Those that say your quote don’t mean it that way, but it’s a major societal red flag when found as frequently as it has been. The disconnect between the world and internal world views are now dangerously wide
Hehe yeah, 'believable' should never be the bar for whether something is the truth. The truth is occasionally unbelievable. Verification is a much better bar... and generally the bar everyone else uses. It's tough, cuz it means you have to put effort in, like... "do a job" kind of effort.
When something is unbelievable the verification bar it higher.
