That's some shortsighted bullshit...

But in fairness to most Middle East governments, they're only in power because corrupt US presidents put them there at some point.

So 60 years feels like "forever", only because they never knew what their grandparents had.

For Qatar it's only been about 30 years tho, but the 20 years before that was the same deal but with the Brits.

I do want to give Qatar props for a "bloodless" coup where instead of US military they used the US financial system.

In response to the coup, Khalifa bin Hamad called his son an "ignorant man" and proclaimed that he was still the legitimate ruler,[1] while Hamad bin Khalifa engaged an American law firm to freeze his father's bank accounts abroad in order to deter a possible counter-coup.[3]

Not even being sarcastic, it saved a lot of lives to attack his dad's money instead of trying to control a physical area.
