Two things I can confirm myself: numerology and Catholicism and/or any of its forks thereof.
On the numerology side of things, every letter of the English alphabet (when using Ordinal gematria) has a number assigned to it from 1 (a) to 26 (z). There are other ciphers, like Pythagorean (1-9 repeating), Satanic (36-61 if I recall correctly), Latin, etc. That, combined with date numerology (math calculating certain numbers using a date in time), and Chinese and/or Chaldean numerology, determines what a person is supposed to do. An example I can give is that I'm a Life Path number of 5, which means I'm spontaneous and freedom-oriented. Careers for a 5 in this discipline include the likes of being a content creator (my producer, Neigsendoig, is also a 5), blogger, journalist, writer, entertainer, performer, adventure guide, outdoor educator, sales exec, consultant, event planner, hospitality manager, and some others (freelancer included).
For the religious side of things, there's only one religion that's really allowed to be a politician: Catholicism. Your political beliefs, what you think and how you think come from the Pope. Why do you think politicians fly over to Rome every once in a while? Some believe (myself included) that the Pope gives religious and political marching orders to politicians. This isn't something they wanted to do. They were basically given the job due to their numerology (I can easily do a basic reading myself, and had done one already) and religious and political ties.
