Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Yep. I say this as a resident of the United States and it will take at minimum decades to fix the damage that Trump has caused in just nine months. More likely (assuming the US survives) it will take multiple generations to fix the damage from Trumps second term.

Seconded as another American - the brain drain alone from deterring immigration by conservatives may make that process even longer (or require a new system of governance entirely)

Also the brain drain by actively fighting to prevent scientific research.

Yet another debuff to the pile XD

And that's only nine months how long to fix the full term damage.

As a Canadian- it isn’t “the damage Trump has caused in 9 months.” It’s the damage the US populace at large has done and allowed to be done for roughly 3-4 decades while literally everyone was telling you to wake the fuck up because this was the trajectory you were on.

In response to the entire world trying to warn you off this path, you closed your eyes, stuck your fingers in your ears, flipped us off, yelled louder and started flying your flags more conspicuously.

Trump is one small part of the gargantuan fuckup YOU allowed to happen. Trump is a symptom. A few entire generations of Americans are the cause.

I know, I know. We've seen the rot spreading since Regan, but it's nearly impossible to get rid of when about half the voting public think it's ordained by god to vote straight republican.

Except when they wanted to travel. Then they traded their conspicuous flags for Canadian ones.

Your second revolution is going to be starting soon.

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It already is happening and they are letting it happen. The second civil war well be bloodless if the left allows it. And so far the left seems fine with it.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The left won’t be the first one who draws blood.

Maybe it should. How long will you idly watch the masked goons kidnapping people? Like honestly i do not see a reason for Trump to rush anything more than he does. He is in a very comfortable place, being able to spread his authoritarian powers more and more. I don't see the point coming where "the left" (as if america has many of those to begin with) revolts against this new breed of fascism. It is not going to get easier over time.

The Left is way outnumbered by Liberals in the US. Unfortunately, their sensibilities matter. They will side with fascists if they feel it necessary to "not be the ones who started it".
