this sounds about right for me. i'd like to note that the one-child policy was replaced by the two-child policy in 2015 and three-child in 2021, with provincial (about the size of a US state) governments like Sichuan able to abolish it entirely. as seen in 2015, the cultural impact of the one-child policy was already too effective, though

i also agree that there isn't much cultural prejudice unless it's one's own. for example with the Harry Potter example mentioned in the article, the Grindlewald–Dumbledore ship has an extremely large following, probably the most popular one across the entire extremely popular franchise in China: https://search.bilibili.com/all?vt=95006627&keyword=GGAD&search_source=5

also worthy of note is that at least Gen X still disgusts at men making out much more than they would for het couples or women doing the same
