Honestly you're not alone. This is the first I've heard to any extent that Pepe was used by racists at all. I've seen some pretty heartfelt animations using the likeness and no hint to any extent that racism was somehow attached to it.

Jesus dude. Go back and look at all those pepe posts. Recognise the pattern

Maybe I'm not chronically online enough or in whatever channels where whatever you're talking about is going on as I'm not even sure where it is I would go to 'go back and look'. Are there like entire communities sharing pepe memes or something?

Pepe being a right wing meme is actually something that's been going back over a decade now. Literally, it got so bad it was branded a hate symbol in 2016. There have been multiple news reports, documentaries, you name it. It has been completely co-opted and associated with the far right for that long.

If you're trying to turn it around on me and calling me the problem then you really don't sound oblivious, you sound like a bad faith actor

Yeah. I figured as much. There's still a lot of lurkers on Lemmy, and I assume that at least some of them have seen the comments and agreed at some extent.

Though, someone seems to be down voting comments around here. I dunno, I'm just some dude.

I've noticed a lot more down votes lately and I have no idea why. I still couldn't give any less of a shit if I'm down voted or not, it's just an interesting trend for my brain to look at.

Have a good day friend.

Yup, I've noticed the same. You have a good one as well!

whup, complaining about downboats or bragging about upvotes is an automatic downvote. Do I have to teach you EVERYTHING about Internetting??

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 hours ago

Nope. I need not learn anything.

Though. It is valuable to note that I'm not complaining about down votes. I only mentioned that I noticed it. It is a statement of fact. Nothing more.
